Bank Logos

For years, I haven't seen a bank logo within my Quicken programs.

Yesterday, I installed Q2006 on my wife's computer and, voila, she has logos when accessing her accounts.

Did I lose them while converting from older versions?

If not, any ideas on how to get them back?

Note: Obviously, it's purely for looks and not function, but if there's any easy solution, what the hell!

Thanks!

Hmm, where are these bank logos? I don't see any. I upgraded to QP2006 from QP2005, and a year ago to QP2005 from QP2004. Maybe they get lost in the upgrade?

Margaret

A small addendum... So far, I only set up one Financial Institution for her.

The logo shows up in the One Step Update Status window, at the bottom of any register that's opened, basically any time the program makes reference to the bank.

I'm wondering if the fact that she's only accessing one FI has something to do with it. Maybe, if more than one FI is used, as in my case, Quicken no longer displays the logo(s).

I'm fishing, Margaret. I'm fishing!

A Q2005 answer (though I think it holds for Q2006 as well).

They are .bmp files in

D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken

in folders with numeric names; each folder being for an fi ... or Intuit/Quicken.

Sounds like a nice feature, but I don't have any bmp's in those folders on my Quicken 2005 system, and I don't get the logos with any of the accounts.

OK, I found some logos in the folders you mention. They must get downloaded when you configure the account for online access, as I have logos for Fidelity NetBenefits, ING Direct and my Quicken MasterCard. I see the NetBenefits and Quicken MC logos in the bottom righthand corner of the respective account register. I closed my ING Direct account, disabled online access and hid the account. But unhiding it, I don't see the logo, I'm assuming because I disabled online access. I have no logos for Vanguard, Emigrant Direct, Discover, etc.

Anyway, are these the logos the OP is talking about?

Margaret

I think they are the same; have not attempted to prove it though.

I think there is more to their presence in Quicken than just whether the account is enable for online access. It appears to me that it may have something to do with actually downloading transactions to the account. I did not see any logos in any registers an hour ago. I did a download from BoA, got a few transactions and saw a logo. Did a download from Fidelity (who also has a logo in one of those folders), and got no transactions, got no logo. That's on my Q2005 machine.

On the Q2006 pc, where I am still basically testing Q2006, the logos are gone from their regular folders (but I have some because I saved the Quicken folder prior to one of the many installs I did during beta testing). In Q2006, even after I did a download from BofA and got transactions ... I saw no logo. But that is probably because, as I said, there are no logo files in the folders where they should normally reside.

Still, even when I deactivated a BofA account, and reactivated it, and downloaded transactions; I did not get the logos back.

I found the folder you were referring to, on my wife's computer, and copied all the .BMPs to the same folder on my computer.

Nada.

I'll see what happens, tomorrow, when I download new transactions.

Nope. New transactions, no logos.

Were there logo files for the specific fi's that you downloaded transactions from? I only have logo files for a few of the fi's I download from.

Yes.

She has only one FI (so far), while I have numerous ones. I copied all the .BMPs, from her folder to my folder (The same folder was created by Quicken, on each of our systems.), but, as I said, nothing.

(By the way, my spell checker suggests that I change your name to "Polaroid!" )

I just did my daily download, and where I see all those logos is at the top of the One-Step Update screen, while it's actually trying to download. The logos show for my financial institutions which have logos, whether or not there are actually transactions to download. Today there were none. However, the Fidelity NetBenefits logo *always* shows in the bottom righthand corner of my Fidelity account register. BTW, I only have logos for financial institutions at which I have accounts. And not all of them have logos, as I mentioned yesterday.

My wife's shows the logo during a One Step Update, and at the bottom of all FI-related account registers.

With Q2003, the logos will automatically appear after you setup an account for online access and make your first download.
