Can Quicken 2000 Basic & Quicken 2005 Deluxe Cohabit?

I have Quicken 2005 Deluxe on my desktop (Windows Me, 512 MB RAM) and Quicken 2000 on my laptop (Windows XP, also 512 MB RAM). Is it possible to install 2000 Basic on the laptop in a different folder from the Quicken 2000 program and use the two programs for different Quicken files/accounts? Both programs would not have to be open at the same time.

The reason I want to do this is because it became impossible a few weeks ago to update my financial institutions on-line using Quicken 2005. Quicken support has been trying to help me, but after several days of my trying everything they've told me to do, nothing has worked.

Thanks!

Joan

I'm a little confused by your post; I think you may have entered the wrong version name at one or more spots in your post.

1.) You can have more than one version of Quicken installed in different folders on the same pc. My experience is that there were no major problems, but several small to medium zingers (depending on your needs). And you're right; only one version of Quicken can be running at a time. 2.) There is no way that Q2000 will process data created by Q2005. No older version of Quicken will process data from any newer version of Quicken. Indeed, if you attempt to open Q2005 data in Q2000, you might actually damage the Q2005 data. 3.) Q2000 should *not* be able to download account transactions or prices; its download capability was sunsetted(eliminated) several years ago. Of the two versions you have, only Q2005 still has the capability to download. I use Q2005 Deluxe, US, and I do not have any downloading problems.
