I perhaps wasn't clear: when I said the 'account actions menu" I mean that menu that drops down at the little gear in the upper right hand corner. the 'Transactions' section, which includes 'reconcile' in all my other accounts, only has 'edit account details' 'update balance' and 'transfer money'. When I do Tools>Reconcile all I get is a dialogue that says "update balance' and all it does is creates an entry in the account with the balance change. There is something strange about *just* this* account.
Aha. I have figured it out: It is set up as a "cash" account. I don't know what Quicken things a cash account is, but apparently it isn't something that is to be reconciled. So i need to learn more about cash accounts and see if I can change these accounts to something more useful to me..
