Can't uninstall and reinstall 2005

After announcing that I would not get any more "support" for Q2005 I am informed that Q2005 is damaged and to reinstall. To reinstall you are ordered to uninstall (why?). But I can't uninstall it. I go through the uninstall screen, and all seems well till it shows the uninstall screen repeatedly in a never ending process. Can anyone help with this? John P

After retrying to uninstall Q2005, I suspected I have to log on as an administrator, so my friend said to go into safe mode with F8 (who knew?) and things were looking good but I got the message from Quicken: 1607: Unable to install Installshield Scripting Runtime Why can't the;y install this kluge? It looks like vicious sabotage from Intuit. They want me to buy another version. But what assurance do I have that I could install it?

It's most definitely not "vicious sabotage from Intuit" but your PC setting that prevent the program to be completely removed.

I'd try again to login (as a user with admin privileges) and attempt to uninstall again. If that doesn't work, try running the install again and see what happen. Installing in to the new folder may help.

Hope it works.

The Quicken Support Site has a tool called QcleanUI for removing Quicken from your computer. I've used it before and it worked great. Google Quicken Uninstall and it should be right at the top of the list. Here's an extract of the instructions. Making a backup of your data is always a good idea.

Using the QcleanUI tool to uninstall Quicken

Answer In some cases, you might need to use the QcleanUI Tool to remove the Quicken program files and Windows registry entries for Quicken from your system. To do this, please follow the steps below in the order they are listed.

Important:Intuit recommends that you make a backup of your data file before proceeding.

Don: You are the cat's pajamas! QcleanUI did work and without altering my data either. (I was ready to lowbid on Q2008 this afternoon on Ebay, but this is so much simpler.) But why couldn't Intuit have suggested it? I had tried a download "Myuninstall" but it didn't work. My best wishes to you. John Polasek
