CC-502 Error

Quicken 2008 Premier, Windows Vista all systems current with regard updates.

I use Ally Bank and Quicken has download transactions normally since I opened the checking account in early Feburary until yesterday. At that time I got an error message which is shown below.

My feeling was this would be resolved in a short period, but now that it has presisted, I am wondering if this is likely a longer term item. I have used Quicken for over 20 years and never had this before.

During the last online session, Quicken encountered an online error [CC-502].

Quicken was unable to update your accounts because your financial institution's web site is undergoing maintenance. Try your update again in a few hours or the next business day.

This error is generally a temporary issue. Periodically update your accounts in Quicken to see when this issue is resolved.

  1. Open your account in Quicken and choose the Overview tab.
  2. Click Update Now in the menu bar. If the update is successful, begin using One Step Update for your accounts. If the update is not successful, repeat these steps the next business day until the update is successful. Your financial institution cannot resolve this issue. Visit the Intuit Technical Support FAQ site. If you need assistance, contact Quicken chat support. Chat support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I'd just wait and try an update later today or tomorrow. Like they said, their website might've just been down for maintenance.

Gordon: If Ally bank is like ING, the CC-502 errors may become a daily thing. I always get a CC-502 error with ING. I just manually update and enter the second verification answers. I think it has to do with ING rotating the questions daily, so Quicken is never giving the expected answers. Bob

I agree.

I think another way this can happen is when an fi decides to add a new popup, that requires a user response, during the regular web-site logon process. The fi doesn't inform Intuit, so Quicken doesn't know that a different response than usual is required, and the Express Web Connect logon process fails.

I see this during a one step update but the summary window after the update shows all accounts updated today's date. I have not tried to isolate it to a account as accounts seem correct. Mel
