Change number fonts

Would someone please help in printing checks? Windows XP Professional and Quicken 2005 Deluxe. I can change the font and font size of all fields to print a check, but the dollars field on the left hand side of check does not change with the balance of the check. The dollars field is thus much smaller than the balance of the check when it is printed. What am I missing? I would like to enlarge the fonts on the whole check.

You have run up against Intuit's interpretation of Check21 standards and using a standardized font for those fields that are used in Check21 processing.

I don't print checks in Quicken, so I am just guessing based on the many discussions I have read on the subject (and I stress the word "many", not because those discussions have provided great insight, but because I am, in some ways, more confused now than I was when the issue first surfaced): perhaps if you choose a more check21 *appropriate* font and size, Quicken will stick to one size for all check fields.

I'm still confused. What is check21? First time I've encountered this. Yes the font looks like about a 10 pt. I have tried several different fonts with the same results. What would be a more check21 "appropriate" font?

Hi, Joe.

Google gets over 36,000 hits on "check21". Here's the first one:

It refers to the new US law that spells out new rules for handling checks in the 21st Century. Short version: Banks are no longer required to return cancelled checks after 10/28/04 (although some still do, or did for a transitional period).

Offhand, I'm not sure why it would affect the fonts used to print a check, except that they are probably required to be machine-readable. Others here are much more familiar with that, but I don't print checks with Quicken. I either pay online or write checks with pen and ink. Gosh, I hope I don't have to start making them LEGIBLE! :^{
