Changing Account Number for OnlinePayee

Using Quicken 2004, I needed to change the Account Number for an Online Payee.

The edit screen let me change all the data entered, *except* the Account Number. OK, it was a minor nuisance, but I thought that I would just delete the payee, then add it back with the new number.

I deleted it, but when I tried to add it back, it complained that that payee name had already been used. So, since the name had three words in it, Ijust added an extra space between two of the names.

What should I have done? Surely there must be an easier way to do what I needed. And if the payee name wasn't multiple words, I wouldn't have been able to get around the problem as easily as I did.

I've had the same problem. Also can't find out why I can't add separate account numbers to same account because of invoices numbers that differ per occasion.

If you're the person with the wife who uses the same doctor, and if I remember your situation correctly; don't you just need one online payee for you with your account number and one online payee for your wife with her account number, with both online payees being the same physical payee?

See if Intuit kb article 572847 is any help.

The problem is that the hospital sends different invoice numbers for each of us and that is what they want us to pay by. They get confused just getting a check from even our account number, they want the invoice.

Sounds like a problem with your hospital's bookeeping (a non-Quicken problem).

I know other programs offer an invoice number option on payment.
