Chase.com User IDs

Richard and/or Margaret:

Sounds like both of you have already gone through the migration. Did you get to keep your old User IDs, or did you have to create new ones at Chase.com?

Thanks, Bob P.S. Just trying to be prepared ;-)

I was unable to keep my user ID, which was both a pain and very odd, considering I use a very uncommon login which has always been available when I create accounts online. But something even odder happened....

Years ago I had a Chase credit card that I used for a while and then closed. As a result, I had a login and password, but the user ID was different from the one I've been using on my CC accounts these days. When I called tech support, they said according to their records, I never had an account on FirstUSA.com, and that my current Chase card was linked to an account using a different user ID (just happened to be my user ID from years ago). When I closed that old Chase account, I'd asked that my web account be terminated. Chase claimed they'd done it. Clearly they hadn't. And while they were able to magically match my new Chase card with my old Chase online account, they could find no record of the working FirstUSA.com login that had worked the day before (and many months before that)!

Finally I got them to change my now existing (but old) user ID to a variation on the one I'd used at FirstUSA.com -- I had to add a character to it to make it unique. So clearly my FirstUSA.com ID is still out there in the ether somewhere.

I hope you have an easier time than I did. :-)

Regards,

Margaret

Thanks, Margaret. I called Chase to try to resurrect an older User ID. The support person couldn't do it. Then she suggested we try to revive it at Chase.com since I would have to move over by February, 2006 anyway. That didn't work, but she did suggest I enroll at Chase.com.

Well, I tried, and got an error message about my card not being recognized. So, I called back, and the new support person told me I had to wait for them to do the transition, and that they would take care of everything.

Now, I'm more dubious than ever ;-)

Hi Bob,

We have banked with Chase for about 30 years and went online with Quicken about 10 years ago.

It used to be that we had 2 ID's per account..............one for Quicken direct download and one for using Chase Online (which we almost never used.)

When Chase became JP Morgan Chase nothing changed for us as online users.

Now that JP Morgan Chase is transitioning back to just Chase we had to sign up for Chase online all over again with new ID's and then start using the same Chase online ID's for Quicken.

There are deadlines for geting this done but they vary according to the type of account (business vs personal etc.) and what part of the country you're in.

Thanks Richard, for the historical perspective :-) I am one of the many ex-First USA, then Bank One credit card users. As I recall, the main attraction of First USA for me was the free Direct Download into Quicken. Chase may have also had that feature, but they were not on my radar screen for some reason.

My business cards are supposed to move over to Chase.com by the end of the year, and personal cards by February. I'm anticipating glitches :-)
