Customizing Account Bar in 2006

Jan 21, 2006 2 Replies

I have just upgraded from Deluxe 2002 to Basic 2006. In the 2002 version, I had customized the Account Bar so that it contained several reports and my scheduled transaction list in addition to my accounts.

It looks like the 2006 account bar will only show accounts. Is this true, or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Peter

Do not know of a way to add reports to the Account Bar but you can add memorized reports to the Tool Bar.

Click on the toolbar 'Customize' button. In the lower-left corner of the pop-up is a 'Manage toolbar reports' button. This will let you select from your memorized reports.

The area you refer to in Q2002 wasn't an Account Bar, the items in it were called Quick Tabs and they represented "open" items: open Accounts, open Reports, open Lists.

In Q2006, only one account can be "open" at a time; but since all are listed in the Account Bar, opening an account is just as easy as it was in Q2002. Multiple lists and reports can be open at the same time, and if they are, icons for them are available in the Quicken taskbar during your current Quicken session, but open lists and reports are not kept when you exit Quicken.

But not just "open" accounts; all accounts.

It is true.

As JM noted, you can put buttons for reports and lists on your Quicken toolbar making them just as quick to access as their Quick Tab counterparts.

I think the net is that things are just as easy to access in Q2006 as Q2002, but the methods differ.
