"Dashboard" snapshots rearrangment not sticking

I've decided to try to have Q open my 'Dashboard' rather than a composed view as as was mentioned in a recent update summary. There are handles to rearrange the order of said snapshots within the Dashboard on the screen.

But after I do so, and exit and restart Q, they do not stick to my moved location. Specificaly, 'RECENT TRANSACTIONS' that I'd like to see in the upper left go back to their original position below. Shouldn't the moved location be saved? Hard to believe that the handles exist to rearrange the order but not saved across Q restarts.

Maybe I'm missing some 'save' option I don't see?

I was unable to rearrange the order of the widgets in Dashboard by dragging one to a new position; it would not stay where I put it, even before I exited Quicken and restarted. I tested trying to move Recent Transactions to the upper left corner.

But after I hid the the widgets that preceded Recent transactions, Recent Transactions appeared in the upper left corner. Then I unhid the widgets I had hidden and Recent Transactions remained in the upper left corner.

Intetresting idea. I tried that, after the RECENT TRANSACTIONS moved into the upper left hand slot by your method & re-enabled, the other snapsgots, I did a BACKUP and lo and behold, it regressed back to the original.

I'll open a ticket w/Q. This is actually a new function I'd like to see working. I got to believe they intended this snapshots to remain in effect over a restart.

btw John, try moving the snapshot to a little BELOW (lke 1/3) the title of the one you wish to replace. I found that it works even though it should if you really overlay the other one at the top.

I had already tested exiting Quicken, then restarting Quicken and my moved widget remained in its new position. So I'm not surprised that when I just now did a backup of that test file, the widget still remained in the upper left. (A backup closes, then re-opens, the Quicken file).

I agree. At this point I'm inclined to think you may have some data file issue. Have you tested in a New Quicken file?

I thought I had tried just about every position yesterday; but when I tried again today, I was able to place a different widget in the upper left corner using drag/drop - and it remained there following an exit/restart and a backup.

That's possible, as I've been having some disk i/o errors recently, and I'm hoping to keep this PC around just until the end of tax season.

OTOH, Of course, everything else seems to stick such as account orders, register preferences and such.

I'll try on my laptop that is in another location at the moment and get back to this forum, although that might be for a couple of weeks due to some personal reasons.

Thanks for the update.

Well, after being turned off for several days, turns out that it does seem to now 'stick' on the main PC in the correct location on the DASHBOARD screen, and also that has been correctly carried over to my laptop when using DROPBOX for the usual transfer of the .qdf databases.

All seems well and works as designed. End of "problem".
