Upon further investigation, I believe this problem is more complex than I first thought.
Some considerations I believe are applicable: _ A budget displayed in the Home tab "Budget" widget is a budget chosen by the user from an existing budget created/maintained at Planning > Budgets.
_ The budget displayed in the Home tab "Budget" widget appears to take on the characteristics of the budget in the Planning tab.
_ Quicken categories can be organized into user-defined "category groups".
_ Different user-defined Quicken category groups can contain categories from the same parent category. Example: __ Parent-Category ____ Child-Category-1 ____ Child-Category-2 ____ Child-Category-3 The user can assign Child-Category-1 to User-defined category Group-A, and Child-Category-2 and Child-Category-3 to User-defined category Group-B.
If child categories of the same parent category are assigned to different User-defined category groups, then there would be separate occurrences of "Parent-Category" in the category selection dialog for budgets: one "Parent-Category" occurrence for each User-defined category group containing children of "Parent-Category". And in order to see "Parent-category" in budgets for each User-defined category group, the parent category would have to be separately selected for each category group in which its children appear.
If the appropriate parent and child categories are selected at Planning > Budget, those selections should carry through to the Home tab "Budget" widget.
