Community Discussions regarding the new Quicken Dashboard widgets.

Community Discussions regarding the new Quicken Dashboard widgets. Found at multiple urls (two example discussions noted below).

There are currently a number of Quicken Community discussions regarding issues with the new Home tab Widgets ("Cards") displayed on the Quicken Home tab "Dashboard" view. The bottom line issue: the new Widgets do not permit sufficient Customization,

I agree that those new Widgets should be improved to allow additional Customizations. I also believe that Quicken has always intended to upgrade those widgets as time, and user reaction, allowed; but I suspect that there are too many other more important issues for Quicken to deal with right now. And most of the Widgets complained about so far have existing Quicken alternatives that address those complaints.

I think the most common complaint is that the new Widgets are including Transfers, which are distorting the desired results: many users justifiably don't want Transfers to count as income or expense; those transfers therefore also not should not impact the "Top Spending Categories", "Top Payees", or "Income & Expense" Widgets.

There is an existing Community IDEA discussion, which probably deserves votes (the problem with this IDEA is that the new Widgets need more Customization than just the ability to exclude transfers). See:

While waiting for Quicken to improve the new Home Tab Dashboard widgets, Quicken users can address most of the un-wanted Transfer complaints using long-existing "old" Home tab widgets; and/or by using Saved reports and running the Saved reports from the Quicken Toolbar.

The Quicken Home tab Expenses widget (Customize View > Banking > Expenses) can stand in for the new "Top Spending Categories" widget, and the Home tab Income vs. Expenses widget (Customize View > Banking > Income vs. Expenses) can stand in for the new Income & Expense widget. The Quicken Spending by Payee report/graph can be Saved, then substitute for the new "Top Payees" widget (the report/graph can be Customized to show only the graph, then added to the Quicken Toolbar to make it easy to display). [I believe the above old Widgets exclude "Internal Transfers" by default. If all Transfers must be excluded, that can be done by deselecting all the, what I refer to as "Transfer Account" choices, on the Categories tab of the Customize dialog - all found at the bottom of the list of Categories in the Customize dialog.]
