It's astonishing how many users focus on their annoyances, rather than looking for an alternate way to get the results they imply are important to them.

The original poster is annoyed that the Home tab widget "Loan Summary" does not exclude "closed" accounts (that view also does not exclude any "hidden" accounts).

The referenced "Loan Summary" widget has been around for a long time (since at least Q2004). Back then, there was no such thing as a "closed" Quicken account. In Q2004, "hiding" an account, kept it from appearing in such Home tab Views as the "Loan Summary View".

Since Q2004, there have been several changes to the ability to hide accounts, including several changes in what constitutes a "hidden" account. The ability to "Close" an account is quite a recent option, and it has been offered in a Quicken environment which does not have a simple single "hidden account" designation.

What with all the changes that have occurred since those older versions, I don't find it significant that the "annoyance" of seeing a "closed" account in a Home tab view has not risen to the level necessary to get that annoyance eliminated. The information presented for "closed" loan accounts is accurate, so it's pretty hard to get worked up about the presence of those "closed" accounts,

It's even harder to get worked up when taking into account that there is another widget now available, that provides the exact same information as the old Loan Summary widget ... and does exclude hidden/closed accounts.

Newer versions of Quicken, including those that offer the ability to "Close" a Quicken account, have a new Tab (not available in Q2004) named "Property & Debt". On that Property & Debt tab is a new "widget" (though not an optional widget) called "Selected Liability and Credit Accounts ....". And that widget will exclude "hidden" accounts (including "Closed" accounts), while presenting the same information as the old Home tab "Loan Summary" view.
