Using Quicken 2012 Premium:
Where is the info on what transactions were downloaded kept--on the local computer or at the bank, credit card company, etc.?
In other words, suppose I have two computers, both running Quicken
2012 Premium, and both up to date with entered and downloaded transactions. Computer A is turned on but computer B is turned off. On computer A I run an update and download all the new transactions from banks and credit cards. Then I turn on computer B and run an update. Will it get the updates that A just got or will they not be downloaded because the banks and credit card companies know they already have been?

Quicken keeps track of which transactions have been downloaded ... in your Quicken data file. Quicken uses/saves the unique Financial Institution Transaction ID (FITID) created by the financial institution for each transaction for a given account.
The same transaction *may* get "downloaded" more than once, but Quicken will ignore (not present to the user) any transaction that has an FITID Quicken has already seen (even if you deleted the downloaded transaction from the "Accept transactions ..." window in a previous download).
So: you can download to Quicken data file A, then download the same transactions to Quicken data file B. Taking into account that you'll only see the same transactions if both files were exactly in sync before you did either download. But the download to File A will have no effect on the download to File B. And it doesn't matter whether the files are on the same pc or different pc's.
[I 'm assuming the same download method is used for both files. If a given account uses Direct Connect in File A, and Express Web Connect in File B, you might get different transactions downloaded to the two files, for that account.]
