Duplicate placeholder entries

Nov 28, 2006 5 Replies

I am using Quicken 2007 Premier, but I had this same problem with Quicken 2006 Deluxe.

When I download from Vanguard, Quicken wants to create duplicate place holder entries, adding, and removing the same mutual funds with identical names. For example:

Pacific Capital Small Cap Y - Shares in Quicken - 0, shares in Vanguard

123.456 Pacific Capital Small Cap Y - Shares in Quicken - 123.456, shares in Vanguard - 0.

Any idea how to fix this, or why it is trying to add and remove identical entries?

I don't have a solution but you are not alone. I have suffered with the same problem. Looking forward to seeing if anyone has a solution.

Hi Edward,

There is likely a button when you edit transaction called Cash Source. My guess is that your transactions are Unidentified. Open up the placeholder transaction and click on Cash Source and make your transactions match the Placeholder.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I didn't accept the placeholder entries, but the next time they come up, I'll give your suggestion a try.
