Quicken lets me add a comment in the box at the bottom of the Edit Category form but doesn't seem to save it.
Can anyone else reproduce this problem or get their comment to stick?
Does this work in any version of Q06?
If I understand what you are talking about, I do not think that box is for user comments. I think that box is for displaying an explanation for "tax items". If you select a tax line item in the drop down above, you should see the explanation for that tax line item in the box you are trying to enter comments in.
Q2006 works the same as Q2005 for the tax line item explanation.

In the Edit Category box, only the Name and Description fields are available for free-form user input. The large field at the bottom is where Q displays examples and descriptions of tax-line info, if you've checked the Tax-Related box and selected a Tax-Line item.
Well then it should be a read-only field, i.e. they shouldn't let me type text into it, should they?
If I edit a user-created Category it seems reasonable for me to assume the field is for a detailed description of how I intend to use the Category. After all, it's an Edit *Category* form, not an Edit *Tax Line Item* form.
Anyway, thanks for your and John's response. I was a little worried that my QDB might be corrupted but it looks like things are working as designed.
Good point. Why don't you submit it to Quicken as a suggestion?
