Intuit Shipping - Too Slow or they Lied about when they sent it

I ordered my Quicken 2006 premier on Aug 10, and the email says they shipped it on the 11th, and the arrival date is to be between the 15 to the 19th. Well, here we are on the 23rd and no Quicken. When contacted, their standard reply is it takes 10 to 14 business days and they won't resend until after that period.

I think that they are sending it by pony express and still charging $3.95 shipping and handling. Anyone having similar experiences?

Wow, no, I bought the download so I saved shipping and got it immediately. But if I didn't have a broadband connection, I wouldn't have wanted to download 40+MB! Anyway, by now you could have got it cheaper ... and sooner ... from a local retailer. This is why I stopped buying TurboTax from Intuit (years ago), because they were more expensive and so slooooooooooow about getting me the product. Sorry to hear Intuit has not improved its customer service in this area. :-(

Margaret

The deal was fine, they did the $20 rebate up front and my cost with tax is like $69. Then they give you a couple extra software titles including the

2006 Quicken Willmaker software and some other investing guide.

I thought it was a good deal, if they would just send me the D*** thing already.

It amounts to me paying $3.95 for the Willmaker 2006 software, since I get the rebate up front. Its just a matter of their slowness in delivering, which I think is stupid.

Don't maline the Pony Express. Typically a letter took 10 days between St. Joseph MO and Sacramento CA. It's been longer that that (12 days and counting) for your copy!

(I'm sensitive to this as I plan to walk the route next year....)

I ordered mine on Aug 11th; arrival date was supposed to be between

18-22nd... here we are on 8/24 with no product...

Intuit support said I could pay for the software and download it online, then call back in 48 hours and they would reimburse me. I thought that was alright...

Yeah, but then you only get $10 off instead of the $20 rebate. When I bought the download I thought it was the full $20 rebate. But when I saw it wasn't, I returned the download and bought it at Staples. Got the $20 rebate and a $20 gift card. BTW, those Staples *easy* rebates are just that. You do it all online and don't have to send a thing to them (or Intuit) by mail. Staples will definitely be getting more of my business.

Margaret:

I got that special upgrade in the mail, and it appears that if I download it I still get the full $20 rebate directly off at the time without having to mail it in. Did you get the same deal in the mail?

I may download if no quicken by the weekend, and then return the one they send me in the mail.

I do not have a staples locally, so I either have to go to Best Buy or Office Depot, or Walmart for that matter.

I called and fussed again today about not having it in hand. They give the same idiotic speel about it taking 8 to 14 business days, and not being willing to resend it till after that time. I told them I did not appreciate being charged on my credit card before it arrived.

And I have threatened to have my credit card send a rejection notice for the charges and have it credited off my bill. They still politely give the same speel that I have to wait for a refund by returning the software after it arrives.

I haven't gotten anything in the mail from Intuit in years. Don't know why, as I upgrade every year. BTW, Staples had the same deal even if you ordered off their web site. But IIRC, the $20 gift card offer expired last Saturday.

That's not true at all; i paid for the software, around $65 for QD6, Willmaker and some other stuff. It hasn't arrived yet. They said order it online, pay for it, then in 48 hours ask for a refund and they'll do it.

The $20 off was an instant rebate...

So, basically they are allowing me to get the software now and appease me until the software actually arrives...

by the way, it still isn't here.

Yes, it *is* true. But now that you've posted a bit more detail, I see that we're talking about two different deals. So we're both right. :-) I bought QP2006 off the web site for $69.99, thinking the $20 rebate was already figured in. Then I realized that list price is actually $79.99, so I only got $10 off and no extras (not that I'd want them anyway.). That's why I returned it and bought it at Staples. Had Intuit figured in the full $20 off, I probably wouldn't have gone to the trouble of trundling down the street to Staples. BTW, it's been many years since Intuit sent me one of those offers that included extra software. But I never bought Quicken via those deals, because most of the software was an older version of something I didn't want anyway. Have they improved their deal such that the software is actually current and something worth having?

Maybe now Intuit will get some grief back from me. I just sent a complaint through my credit card company to have the charges temporarily reversed while my credit card company investigates the situation. Maybe Intuit will get the message to be more exact with their shipping dates, and ESPECIALLY not to charge people until they have shipped it. If they are going to claim they shipped it 3 weeks before they say it should arrive, which is a farce in and of itself, then wait three weeks after the shipping date to charge your credit cards. That kind of practice infuriates me for someone to claim it takes up to 14 business days to receive something, when all they have to do is stick it in the mail and it will show up in 2 to 3 business days. They don't tell on the email of the shipping confirmation that they are going to take their sweet time getting it to you.

Who knows, they may be dragging their feet on the order the way rebate issuers usually do when you have a rebate due you. You know, when it says on the typical rebate form that it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get a rebate back. It doesn't TAKE that long to process it. They just want to hold your money that long. So, I guess Intuit apparently doesn't think about human nature wanting the product when money is given up, especially when it comes from an accountant .

I thought about downloading the Quicken software, but the 48 hour part worries me. I thought you had a 60 day guarantee, not 48 hours. There is not that much likelihood that my quicken through snail mail will show up within

48 hours of having downloaded the replacement copy. Then, of course if it does show up, I have to incur the shipping costs to send it back, and wait again for them to actually refund the duplicated charges.

If the software wasn't so much better than the alternative of switching products, then this sort of thing might prompt me to do so. I have 15 years of history with Quicken, so I suppose I will always use it regardless of the hassles they cause.

I don't see how they can limit you to a 48-hour return period, when the web site clearly says 60 days. It would be interesting to find out where they're getting that 48-hour limit from. Anyway, I returned the download I purchased, and they credited my card within 48-hours. It was surprisingly fast and easy, and the customer service rep didn't even ask why I was returning the product.

Margaret

What did you do in terms of the downloaded copy? Had you installed it and then had to uninstall to have the monies refunded. And then reinstall the copy from Staples? I just didn't know how they would keep someone from keeping a downloaded copy otherwise.

Just a bit more info too...

I contacted pre-sales support; stated, I hadn't received any of those offers even though I am a regular Quicken and Turbotax user. I asked for the $20 off deal, etc... they said no problem... the sales engineer actually offered up the willmaker and financial guide to be included as well.

I have been very happy with the flexibility Intuit has provided thus far.

Bruce,

Just a clarification: the 48 hours was to call back and request a refund; they were appeasing my desire to have the software quickly; I think that is the turn around for credit card transactions, etc.

Otherwise, yes, you do have 60 days, but i am expecting the cd's to arrive very soon.
