When I go to Portfolio view an invesment account shows $6,239.84. This number shows up in all the investment views. When I run a Net Worth report this account lists $6,242.84 a $3.00 differnece. I can't figure out why is there a difference and where is it coming from? Can anyone help what/where to look for? Thanks, Nathan
I posted a similar question a while back but no one was able to answer it. (Intuit's help line was stumped, too. I'm glad I didn't pay the $25 service fee! The free "chat" service technician stated they aren't trained in the investments section of Quicken either.)
Anyway, I discovered that the differences between the Net Worth report and portfolio all centered around the way in which the cash amounts were logged in my investment transactions register. I had some transactions that moved $ from "cash" into an investment (mutual fund) where the "Cash Amt" column showed N/A. This is a no-no and will mess up your tally. To correct this, I had to delete the transaction and enter it again, but include a transfer from the cash account into the investment. Once the "Cash Amt" column no longer showed "N/A," the net worth totals matched.
Of course this only applies to transfers from cash into an investment; it doesn't apply to dividends, etc. that are reinvested directly into a fund.
Hope this helps and solves your problem, too! I believe it to be a bug -- but am not willing to pay $25 to find this out. :-)
I am experiencing the same problem. I have about a $3000 difference. My difference is coming from a single IRA investment account.
The Net Worth total displayed onto the left of the quicken screen does not agree with the networth report.
- I have checked for unrealized future gains.
- I have check ed to ensure I have no hidden securities
I also found that the Net worth report agrees with the Investment Activity Ending value for the IRA account and the Net Worth display agrees with the Total Market Value for this IRA account.
How do these compare for you?
And other ideas regarding the cause of this issue would be appreciated.
Did you try my recommendation? If "Cash Amt" shows "N/A" for a transaction, the Net Worth report will be incorrect. If you're close to $3000 off as you've indicated, perhaps this is an IRA contribution that isn't accurately reflected in your transaction log?
