problem with backup

I recently installed Quicken Basic 2006 and have never been able to successfully back up my information to a disk without major problems. I finally gave up and just save it to my hard drive and then copy it from there.

No matter what I try it refuses to recognize the disk and says the disk is full or not a rewritable disk. I've tried everything I could think of and so far nothing works.

Can anyone advise me how to do this without using a new disk each time.

By "disk", do you mean CD? Are you using CD-R or CD-RW? Do you have any CD burning SW or are you using the Windows SW?

Sorry for the less than perfect information I gave.

I mean CD. I am definitely using CD-RW. Yes I am using Roxio CD burning and most importantly, I didn't have any problem backing up with Quicken

2005.

This started recently and all the info I got from Quicken was useless. Apparently they have left lots of features out of the basic program and it simply isn't working correctly.>

What version of Roxio. I'm using Roxio EZ CD Creator 6 with Quicken 2006 H&B and backups work fine for me. If the CD-RW is formatted correctly there shouldn't be a problem. Can you create/delete a folder on the D: (or whatever the CD drive letter is)? When you backup from Quicken, are you just using the drive letter?

I'm using Roxio creator 7 with Quicken Basic and it isn't working for me. The CD-RW is formatted correctly and I was able to get the information on by copying to my hard drive and then copying from there, but that is a nuisance.\

I can create/delete a folder and I tried both ways with Quicken--just clicking on D: and copying to Windows using files waiting to be copied (I can't remember the exact wording for that) and either way it says: Either the disk is full or not a rewritable disk.

Do you have any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks for trying. No one at Quicken seemed to be particularly interested.

Neither are we, but it's a slow day, so... ;)

If you use Roxio, then by implication you cannot also use the CD writing Wizard. The wizard copies to a folder and then when you click on the folder writes to the CD. So, first check the Properties for the CD drive and ascertain which one is active, Roxio or the Wizard.

Then in Quicken, on the backup pane, mark or clear the checkbox for using the Windows CD writing wizard to match accordingly.

Now report back exactly what folders you are trying to write to, what the drive letter is that you are writing to and what error message you get.

Do you have a Roxio Drag-to-Disc icon in the system tray? If so, right-click on the icon and select Disc Properties. Please post the Type and File System.
