Q2006 Home Inventory

Does the Quicken "Deluxe" version include Home Inventory? I know it is not in the Basic version. Are there reports that include all record elements for Home Inventory?

Well, Home Inventory is included with Quicken Premier 2006, don't know about the Deluxe version. I was about to refer you to Intuit's pages on the various features of each version. However, a quick perusal shows no mention of Home Inventory at all. I *can* tell you that this module has not been touched by Quicken programmers in *years*. Someone else mentioned in a previous post that the Home Inventory module in the Mac version of 2006 has been improved. I'm hoping this means perhaps the next Windows version will have an enhanced Home Inventory. Similarly, the Loans module has not been touched, either. Not even to make the UI look like the rest of the program. I don't know why Intuit doesn't spend a little effort to provide a consistent UI. Sigh....

Margaret

Thanks for the info on the subject of "Home Inventory." I had no idea what it was like or in which Quicken version it was included. However, a basic Home Inventory is included in even the Money Standard version.

I have Money Standard 2004 that I acquired with a rebate when I purchased the H&R Tax program. I have actually been running both programs all year simultaneously to compare features between Quicken and Money. They each have their own feature variations to consider if you plan to eventually settle on using one of these programs.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the link Barbara, it looks like a much more complete HI program that what is included with Quicken. I especially like the ability to attach pictures to an entry.

Another home inventory app, though not free, is Frostbow's Home Inventory. I'm slowing getting my inventory into this program. And my goal is to ulimately use a plain old asset account in Quicken to keep a running balance, with the details in Frostbow. Now that Intuit seems to have updated the Mac Home Inventory module, I'm wondering if they will update the Windows version sometime in the not too distant future.

Margaret
