Q2009 - outstanding txns not visible

running Quicken 2009 - downloaded a couple of CD and MM accounts and the red flags popped up and all looked normal, except - the transactions are not showing as downloaded & avail to Accept ?

The Overview of the accounts also show Outstanding Txns to Comp... (probably from my attempt to force their showing via the Reconcile menu)

SO - thoughts, suggestions on where they are hiding, or how to force them from behind the cloak of invisibility ?

Hi, ps56k.

Must be this week's sun spots! ;^{

My Quicken 2012 D is doing something similar - maybe identical, with slightly different symptoms noted.

After downloading transactions from my bank on March 6, I Accepted the two Matched new BillPay transactions. There are no more downloaded transactions to match, but the little flag in front of the bank name in the Accounts|Banking list is still RED. The last transaction downloaded from Merrill Lynch was a dividend on 3/1/12 - and that flag is also still RED under Accounts|Investing. Repeated attempts to download from both accounts always report that there is nothing to be downloaded.

Possibly related: Those last two BillPay transactions didn't actually get downloaded, but I had received automatic emails confirming that they had been paid, so I manually put the "c" in the "Clr" column of the Registry. The dividend via ML showed up as a New transaction, which I accepted and Quicken put in the "c" - but left the flag red.

My "sun spots" remark is only half facetious; this week's solar storms have disrupted a lot of electronic functions. But it's hard to see how it could stop Quicken from turning those flags from red back to black after we've matched the transactions.

You probably already know this, but just in case: Quicken separates downloaded billpay transactions from downloaded non-billpay transactions. You have to process all the downloaded billpay transactions before you can see/process the downloaded non-billpay transactions.

When you have finished processing all the downloaded billpay transactions, there would usually be a "Continue" button (or similar) at the bottom right of the "Accept ... " window. You would click that Continue button to see the downloaded non-billpay transactions.

Don't think that's the problem, John - at least, not the one I'm having. Basically, I just want to get the flag changed from red to black after I've got the "c" in the Clr columns - for both Banking and Investing.

For the Wells Fargo bank account, the only two transactions were BillPay payments that had already been reported to my in emails from the bank. (Almost all my banking is done online now; I wrote only about 30 checks on that account in 2011.) I had entered them by clicking "Enter" on my Memorized Transaction screen, as always, and they appeared in the Register. I expected them to appear as downloaded transactions so that I could Match them. But there were NO downloaded transactions. So I entered the "c" manually. I've Updated - both OSU and with the Register's "Update Transactions" button - several times since then and the transactions have never appeared in a download. The flag is still red.

For ML, my 3/1/12 COP dividend appeared as "New" in that day's downloads, and I Accepted it. I allow ML to withhold tax from my dividends, so that appeared, too, as a "Cash" transaction, as usual. And, as always, I then used that date and amount in my "Memorized Investment Transaction" to record the withholding as a Transfer to my FIT Prepaid account, rather than Cash. (This is awkward, but Quicken doesn't offer a better solution so I've been doing it this way for years.) Then I Accepted Quicken's Match to that entry - as always. Now, even after later Update sessions, there are no longer any Downloaded Transactions in the list - but the flag is still red.

The only buttons at the bottom of the Download area at the bottom of the Registers are "To Do" and "Help". No "Continue" or anything similar. There have been no later transactions downloaded in either account, and I've not written another check or made another BillPay payment. Perhaps the Continue button will appear when my Social Security check gets direct-deposited on Wednesday. And maybe the red flag will change to black.

for me - just grabbed the big hammer solution - the Quicken 2009 CD - and first did a Add/Remove Programs, then a re-install of Q2009 -

all better - and the missing transactions now showed up in the usual list for Accept -

Hi, ps56k.

Well, I used a different "big hammer". ;^}

I installed Win8 Consumer Preview into a new partition on my hard drive, then re-installed my main apps, including Q2012D. As usual (for me), I reinstalled Quicken from the DVD into my E:\QuickenW folder, right over the existing Q2012D that I had installed from Win7, rather than into the default location in my User folder. It works fine, updated to Release R5 automatically, and - after the initial Browse to find my QDF file - continues to work from either Win7 or Win8. ; running Quicken 2009 -

All is well and good - except that the red-flag annoyance continues in both Win7 and Win8.

You can try going to the Online Center, selecting the financial institution (and the account, if necessary), clicking the Transactions tab, then clicking "Compare to Register".

Sometimes that will cause the transactions to appear in the "Accept transactions into register" window of the account.

I believe some have also said the clearing the Windows "Downloads" folder has done the trick.

My last resort (I've only seen the problem a couple of times, and in older versions than Q2012) was to reinstall Quicken - usually after first using Windows to uninstall, then doing a "clean" uninstall using qcleanui.exe (on the Quicken CD).

Hi, John.

Thank you!

I didn't want to do it, but I UNinstalled Q2012, first using Windows 7's Programs and Features, followed by qclean.ui from the Quicken disk. Then I installed it from the disk again in Win7 - to my usual E:\QuickenW folder. All went smoothly EXCEPT that after it installed Q2012 again, it took a LOOONG time to Update it again. It took so long - with the little green thermometer just a quarter-inch from the end - that I gave up the first time. Then I tried again and let it run while I had dinner - and it completed successfully. I don't recall that there was such a long delay when I installed Q2012 original.

The good news was that after the re-installation, all my previous settings were intact, my OSU worked properly - and those red flags are gone. ;
