One thing I've noticed from time to time.... running Quicken 2012 - When performing the One Step Update - and it stalls on one of the downloads - there is no way to stop and/or exit from either the update or Quicken. Guessing the mainline code transfers to the update which in turn transfers to the online download. Since there is no feedback or timeout from the stalled download - it just sits waiting forever.
Had this happen with Chase the other day. If you try to exit Quicken itself, it will not let you - says the OSU is still running. SO - have to use the Windows task manager to kill the program.
