Q2012 - Todays Data

yup - reinstalled Q2009 to compare -

my main screen on Q2009 startup shows :

-> Investing tab -> todays data

lists all the accts with the columns.... cost basis, g/l, g/l %, days g/l, days g/l %, mkt value

This is exactly what I want to see as a quick picture of my data.

BTW - can this Q2009 screen be customized or is it fixed/canned ? It's exactly what I'm looking for so couldn't remember if I created it, or just got used to it ?

I can't address how your first screen on startup is the Investing screen, but if you are in any of the Quicken versions which displays your Portfolio, you can customize what columns are displayed. I suspect that you had a customized Portfolio view and have just forgotten. Use Q2012 to bring up Investing and the Portfolio. Customize is onthe same line as Show, Group By, and Date. You can use the Show pull down tab to pick the View you are most comfortable with, and then customize it by adding/removing colums to it. I can see several DAY options you can choose from.

I think you are just used to what you've had before, and it's the unfamiliarity that's getting you. No functionality has been removed but a few things are in different places. I haven't moved to Q2012 yet (am at 2011), but I've been happy with all the upgrades once I got used to them. Sometimes some of the options we are familiar with get buried in a menu that makes it a little more obscure, but you will get used to it. Just keep trying things and have patience.

BTW, My Quicken starts at the HOME tab, and you can customize what is displayed there. You can also add you own "VIew" as the starting point, and customize it. That's probably where Quicken starts everyone , and you just need to customize it to your liking.
