I have been using Q 06 version - rocksolid, no issues - but would really like to get the updated tax planner information that is on Q07. I wonder whether all the worst bugs have been resolved by now and if this version is as reliable (a relative term) as 06 and reasonably 'safe' to use. Or perhaps wait till 08 version is out in the Fall. I recall reading the early release was a real mess until updates came out.

Hi, Alan.
As I recall, I've read that about EVERY version of Quicken. And I fully expect to read that about Q08, whenever it appears. ;^{ I'm sure that there were at least that many complaints about Q2000 back in 1999 - and about Q06 in 2005.
It's just the nature of software - and of us users. In these newsgroups, we read constant reports of every imperfection and blemish, no matter how minor, but seldom see a report from the millions of users who are not having problems. But I don't recall having heard that Q07 was "a real mess".
I've been using Q07 Basic since it hit the streets. It installed smoothly on Vista - several times, on the beta versions that I was running at that time, and on Vista RTM when it arrived in November. Except for a glitch in installing an update that I reported here back in January, it has given me no problems worth mentioning. I haven't used Quicken Deluxe for several years, so I haven't seen the Tax Planner recently.

RC Thanks - I am undecided yet as to whether I will do the Q07 install. I might do it with lots of backups, knowing I can always go back to 06 if it does not behave correctly
