Quicken 2005 XG always copies splits, etc. into newly downloaded transactions.

I'm running Quicken 2005 XG. I've just downloaded the transactions for my Amex card. When I click on one of the transactions in my download list so I can edit it and add the transaction to my register Quicken throws in old split and memo information into the transaction.

This is causing me no end of headaches!!!

I've tried turning off the various settings in the Quicken Preferences, such as "Complete fields using previous entries" and "automatically enter split data" but this behaviour continues.

HOW can I stop this from happening?

Related problem. If you set the payee field to a one that previously had a split, it copies that old split - even if you've already entered a new split. I use the payee Various for splits - so its on ongoing problem.

Is this fixed in later versions?

Memorize a payee that matches the downloaded payee, with a blank category field. Turn QuickFill back on.
