Quicken 2015

I wish I could tell you what's wrong, and how to fix your problems, but I can't. But I can tell you that neither I nor any of several others I know don't experience those problems, so they are not simply Quicken 2014 problems. It has to be something about *your* setup (Windows options chosen? hardware? driver? something else?), so it's probably not a matter of fixes making it into Quicken 2015.

Ken - I just want to let you know that despite my posting below yours, I didn't mean anything in my post to you personally. I was just a general comment to avoid/deflect the 'how stupid are you' posts for my views.

No problem, Andrew. I understood that. I was just acknowledging your point of view, and also didn't mean anything insulting. I was pointing out a difference between us.

FWIW: My suggestion for when to purchase any new version is to wait until Feb/Mar. That will allow you to use the product with its final patch, and return it for your money back (within 60 days of purchase), if you are not happy with it.

An impressive list indeed, and as for you, the focus issues are a big deal to me. Now to wait and see if those fixes will be made to the Canadian version as well...

Using Q2014 H&B (R2) CDN I'm having many of the same issues (the flickering, as many as 10-12 screen refreshes between entering a transaction and it's completion, inconsistent shortcut functionality...). I've already uninstalled all versions of Quicken and used the QCleanUI tool before re-installing. I think it made a small temporary improvement, and in smaller files it's not too bad, but in my largest one (118MB) it's horrendous.

IIRC, they've at least acknowledged that as an "oops" that's been there for at least a couple of versions. Does anyone know if they've provided an ETA?

If you're referring to the inability to specify the loan interest category for Loan Wizard created loan payments, that's not really an "oops" (ie: not an accident).

It's a byproduct of Intuit's choice to offer the ability to download loan accounts. Due to the lack of cooperation from financial institutions for downloading loans, resulting in making such loan downloads extremely difficult to do, Intuit had to take complete control of the loan setup process (and the Quicken loan account) - and they couldn't find a way to let manual loan users specify the loan interest category.

During the beta of the version when downloading loans was first introduced (Q2013?), Intuit said they would attempt to change the restrictive behavior - but to my knowledge, they have not found a way to do that. [I don't have Q2015, but my guess is that, if you don't see a fix for that mentioned in the link I provided, that it is not available in the current release of Q2015. And I would not expect an ETA.]

When you say you don't expect an ETA, are you saying that you think they will change it at some point in the future but never provide an ETA for the change, or are you saying you don't think they'll ever change it?

I was only addressing whether Intuit would publish an ETA.

They rarely do, and when they do, it's not usually for significant problems like the loan interest problem. [They just said they will TRY to fix a bug in Q2015 that is preventing sounds from playing ... in the next Q2015 release ... but no promises.]

But in most cases, they only announce, if at all, when the code has been changed and tested and is only awaiting the next release (or new version). Much better to say nothing, than to make a promise (or even an "estimate") that can't be kept.

They do know that the inability to control the loan interest category is very unpopular, and I believed them when they said they would change it if/when they could. I have not heard anything about it since then. I have no sense of the likelihood that they can fix it.
