This really has me worried.... Adding the online ID requirement is new, along with various other comments about bugs, sloth like performance,=20 and everything else you can fling=20 against the wall as a complaint.

NOT a good vibe -=20 based upon what they did to TurboTax.=20 =20

When does this come into play? I currently use 2012 H&B and have only one online account that I use once a month. How would this affect me?

It certainly is a misfeature which Intuit is fully capable of fixing.

QW2014 had so much other brokenness that many people stayed away from it so didn't know to complain (me included). Others seemed to just take the partial/occasional/random requirement as another flaw expecting it to be corrected in the future.

Some people authoritatively say Intuit will not fix it, but I have not seen any Intuit response on this problem at all.

It wont impact you until you get your next version. Let Intuit know now that you want this fixed. You have another year until you need to upgrade or move to something else.

May be the most practical, but tell Intuit you don't want it and ask them to remove it.

May be best short term if you has 2013. QW2014 might also be reasonable but still has other bugs (according to rumor).

Not so easy. There isn't much competition and Intuit knows it.

Moneydance is close and worth looking at. Moneydance can fully import Quicken data (after accounting for Quicken bugs). Quicken can't correctly import data from any product, including its own data exports.

They are just missing this one misfeature which needs correction (well maybe a few other things in addition).

Note that if you give Intuit a real email address they will send email indistinguishable from phishing.

Intuit gives some good information at:

formatting link
Unfortunately, Intuit will send you email which should be considered phishing based upon their own security standards. I have received email sent to a test account only used in conjunction with a test Intuit ID.

Specifically:

- the email was from a domain not associated with Intuit at all yet claimed to be from Intuit (item 1: "Spoofed email address").

- The email had a link going to a non-Intuit web site yet claimed it was for Intuit (item 2: "Suspicious link").

- Since I didn't follow the link, I don't know if it was to a forged web site or to something more benign like an outside marketing tracker.

Technically, the email didn't violate the "What we won't do" section, but it shows a lack of middle management quality and attention to security. I hope the middle manager responsible does not have anything to do with the banking section.

I also followed the process in "Here's what you can do to protect yourself from a phishing attack" and forwarded it to snipped-for-privacy@intuit.com. I never heard back from them. Again, I hope these people don't have anything to do with the banking section.

I'm using Quicken 2014 which has a password requirement. The only time I remember using it was when I initially installed the program and then again on a reinstall when I built a new computer.

It's not a big dea; I get a couple of emails a month from them. If you are worried about spam, you might consider using something like Hotmail with a fake email address.

The Intuit ID becomes a bigger deal in Q2015, when every Quicken file must have an Intuit ID, and the Intuit ID can only be assigned to the file when Quicken has access to the internet. [Once the ID has been assigned to the file, the file can be used on a pc that does not have access to the internet.]

I had assumed that by turning off the upload of data to quicken "feature" I was OK. True?

What are all these problems that Q2014 has? I've been using it for months with no obvious issues.

What bugs does Q2015 fix? Is there a link to a list that describes them?

There are no exceptions to the rule that every Q2015 file must have an Intuit ID. It does not matter whether you ever use the file to download anything.

Sorry to be unclear.

I would worry about a quicken id if it gave them access to my information in some way. Otherwise - what't the big deal?

Well, I didn't say it was a big deal - but LOTS of other users think it's a big deal.

Some can't stand the idea, apparently. Personally, I don't mind the idea, but I'm not crazy about the inconvenience.

That inconvenience that increases significantly, if you try to use Q2015 and any other Quicken version on the same pc.

Also since every data file that Q2015 uses must have an Intuit ID assigned, and since the Intuit ID can only be assigned to a file on a machine that has internet access, that has created another problem for some users.

Article ID: GEN82611 Updated: 12/11/2014 states that you can install Quicken on up to 3 computers. Will that still work using Quicken 2015?

I have Quicken 2013 installed on my desktop in my basement office and also on my laptop which I use in my den in the evening. When I'm done in the basement for the day, I do a Backup to a separate backup folder. After that, I Restore that backup file to my laptop so I can look at the days activity in the evening while watching TV, having a snort, etc :-)

I'm not seeing any either.

There's an occasional exception, but that's generally true of bugs in any program, not just Quicken.

Ditto. I usually upgrade every other year. I'll probably upgrade from

2014 to 2016 around the end of this year.

===============================FWIW, I have Q2015 installed on a p/c and a laptop. I've not had any issues/concerns/complications with the Intuit ID issue. I typically copy a Q backup to a public area on the p/c. From the laptop I then copy that p/c public Q to a laptop public area. I then have Q restore from that pubic and then have Q on the laptop backup to a public area on the p/c. As far as Q is concerned I essentially use the laptop as another backup device. I use Karenware's Replicator on both p/c and laptop for the copies. Geo. Salisbury Long Valley, NJ

Great! Hope they keep that for 2016 when I do my next update. Thanks for responding.

In the past year or so, I've posted a number of problems with Q2014. However, I was shouted down by the Quicken cheerleaders who kept on saying that Q2014 didn't have any real problems.

Funny, now most are now saying how buggy Q2014 is.

I don't know whether I'm one of those you are referring to, but I am certainly not a Quicken cheerleader, I don't shout anyone down, and I would never say that *any* program doesn't have any real problems.

However I can certainly say that I've been using Quicken 2014 since it was first released, and *I* have never had any problems with it.

I'm not. I don't notice any bugs that impact me.
