Quicken and Vanguard

The Quicken Community forum is ablaze with discussion about Vanguard not being able to have transactions downloaded since last Friday. I'm surprised (and that's all I'm saying here) that no one in this NG has mentioned this.

The new brokerage accounts are not being accessed by Quicken and currently one can only download a data file direct from the web site.

Yes, apparently Vanguard broke the OSU connection protocols and now OSU no longer works. At least they've admitted its their issue.

Since I am not a frequent trader, I am not going to worry about trying to download an OFX file (or whatever the workaround is) given that duplicates might occur and the validation of my files will be a royal PITA when the real fix occurs. I'll live with this for a bit.

Issue still unresolved. But as of yesterday, there was a pop-up on when starting Q acknowledging that Vanguard owns this issue and it is being worked on. Seems like Vanguard was relying on a 3rd party to provide the connection services. I don't know if every Q user received the pop up, or only those that Q knows have accounts at Vanguard.

Yes, I received that pop-up also. I do have a Vanguard brokerage account that I opened a few months ago.

Hopefully they'll be able to get it fixed soon. I was beginning to wonder if they had just decided to stop offering a Direct Connect connection, but based on what you're saying, thankfully that's not the case.

I have very few transactions, so I've just been entering them manually for now.

The Vanguard Direct Connect connection is now working again. I downloaded successfully this morning to my brokerage account. Good to see!

I see that others have reported the same thing in the Quicken Community forum.

Yes indeed! There certainly was a LOT of chatter on this one. I think that the golden lining might be that Vanguard might realize how many people rely on Quicken for the financial management and not to f**k it up again like they apparently did. (Yes, a third party might have been to blame, but Vanguard should have had testing after they had upgraded that company's connection software).
