Quicken BillPay still SLOW...

I wrote a check on 4/3/05, status today says it was input on 4/4/05 for delivery on 4/7/05. It is now 4/11/05 and the check has still not hit the destination bank.

Can anyone suggest how to speed up this process. I thought it was supposed to be 4 days now.

How do you know the check has not hit the destination bank yet but just has not be deposited? Are you sure they have received it? For example, what if you addressed it incorrectly? What if they did receive it but process it in weekly batches? Have you called the destination bank to assure it's receipt?

Well, that's the question. Metavante claims they sent the check. The bank, a small, local federal credit union, claims they haven't received it and when they do, it will appear in my (web) check register within 24 hours.

To add insult to injury, Metavante won't talk to me but wants to speak to a bank representative. The bank doesn't want to call them!

I had to go through this exercise last month. After a few hours of calling, the check suddenly appeared on-line!

But there are other disconnects. Metavante says they have to send paper checks because the bank can't do electronic transfers. The bank says they can. My guess is there is a protocol incompatibility even though EDIF is supposed to be the standard.

I have no idea what a "Metavante" is. Checks can get lost in the mail. I had one not go through because I didn't put on the Suite number for the payee.

3way calling! Works wonders! ;-)

Either that of if you can talk to your bank and then pretend you have an emergency and convince them to call you back - then give them Metavante's number! ;-)

Will wonders never cease!

That's their problem - not yours.

Personally I wouldn't be concerned with it. If Metavante needs to sent paper checks and that's a hassle for them then they should be working with the banks in question to get EFTs going to reduce costs.
