Quicken won't install

I've been running Quicken for over 10 years and upgraded to Quicken 2007 earlier this year (OS is WinXP SP2). Yesterday Quicken and all its data files got erased (I had a data file backup) due to me running a program I shouldn't have (stay away from "De-crapifier").

I cannot reinstall Quicken. The install program starts, then returns an error 1324 saying "The path Program Files contains an invalid character." The name of the "Program Files" folder has not changed. I have purged my hard drive of all the leftover Quicken files (mostly shortcuts) and also purged the registry of all Quicken references but nothing has helped. I don't know what to try next.

All suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you re-install Q or did you just copy files from the backup? You

*HAVE* to install Q. Copying files will not work..

It was just the data files I restored from the backup. I'm trying to install Q2007 from the original CD using the install program. All the Q program files have been deleted so it should look like a brand new install.

I used the "Windows installer cleanup" to remove install info for Quicken and then installed just fine.

I thought the Decrapifier (which is a VERY useful program for new machines:

allowed you to pick and chose which programs were to be removed? I'm not sure why you were running it as it's designed to remove stuff such as the tons of trial software installed by PC makers on NEW machines, not for use on machines that have been in use for awhile and have additional software installed by the user?
