Trying to move/copy my data files from old comp. (win98 with quick for Win95 REL7) to new comp. (win XP with quick for Win95 REL7) my thought is to connect the two machines via USB then launch Quick restore from the new comp. and point to backup on the old comp. Will this work? if not what will? keep in mind, I am a newby and require 1,2,3 type explanation. Any help greatly appreciated---Bob
I've not tried to connect two computers using USB and I don't think it is possible. If both computers have RJ45 ports (network) then using a crossover cable would be the easiest (XP will "see" the 98 machine, but there are many problems going the other way) or if you have a network set up you can have them both connected to a hub or router or switch and that works quite well also.
Once the XP machine can "see" the 98 machine and the folder with the backup is visible the restore to the XP machine is easy.
