transaction vs. posting dates

Hi,

I was a longtime quicken user and gave up on the platform severl years ago; I'm now looking toget back but I have one big concern. I like to be able to see if I met my budget in a given month but unfortunately certain items (e.g. mobile phone bills, electricity bills etc. ofen don't post until the next month). To complicate things, some months I may get 2 phone bills posted to my account (e.g. one on June 1 for May and another on June 30 for June) For the purposes of reconciling transactions with my financial institution from which I'm syncing my data, I don't want to be manually changing the posting date BUT I'd love to be able to tell Quicken that "for the purposes of reporting/analytics, consider bill x to be in month y rather than in month z for which it posted". In sum, is there a way to tell Quicken (or MSFT Money) to distinguish between transaction dates and posting dates? Otherwise all the budgeting/analystics look all screwed up for any given month!!! Thanks

Erik
