upgrading to Q2006 from Q2004 and new cpu/OS at the same time

I'm preparing to upgrade from Quicken 2004 Premier to 2006 Premier, and I'm also switching to a new computer with WinXP instead of Win2K. Is there any recommended sequence?

Should I upgrade to Q2006 on the old system, get my 2004 file "upgraded" and working on the old system, then install Q2006 on the new system and restore the backup file from the old system?

Or, should I install Q2006 on the new system with no accounts set up, then restore a "backup" from the Q2004 account/system? That should hopefully trigger an "upgrade" of the old account structure to the new Q2006 structure, if there are any changes.

Or should I install Q2004 on the new system, restore a backup, get it all working correctly, then upgrade to Q2006.

I'm just looking for the least chance of data corruption during the switch. Any experiences or recommendations? I'm leaning toward the first option.......

Thanks, Joe

I would be inclined to copy your data files/folder and put them on the XP

1st. Then install Q 2006 on the XP and open your file in the usual manner and let Quicken convert them. I would not try restoring something that has not been converted. One persons opinion.
