Trouble adding second account

May 22, 2011 2 Replies

I have a checking account that's set up for online/onestep downloads. I also have a savings acct at the same institution and I'd like to turn on it, too. But I can't get the second account to 'go'. If I go to 'edit account' for the second account and hit 'online', it says "one step update is available" [which is not surprising], and so I click next and it asks me which institution -- and it has the correct one displayed, so I select that, but when I hit 'next' nothing happens. I restart Quicken and try again. This time 'next' gets me to a screen that asks for the password for that acct. I give it, it goes to update, comes back with "there are two accounts at that institution". SO: I click "different" and get to the institution-selection screen give it the bank, enter my credentials and it does a "Getting account information". Then "Account setup" and there are two accounts listed: the primary one is there and the new one is there with a checked-checkbox. Next screen: would you like to add the pwd to the vault. Click yes. and then I get to a "Setup complete" screen but the "view the account to enter transactions" box *blank*. And indeed, the account is *NOT* set up for download. [if I look at the OFX log, I can see quicken getting info for both accounts and I can even see it fetching the balance for the second account. But it still is set up as a "manual account".]

This with StellarOne, if that matters. Any idea why this is happening or what I can do to get the account activated? THANKS!

YMMV....I had a couple of these same difficulties over the years and I ended up calling the FI on the phone to get the d/l's. They have to set it up as being able to be downloaded. Other FI's no problem at all.

Make sure that the account you are trying to activate is not hidden.
