New Account - Setting Up Online Services (2025 Update)

QW Deluxe 2019

I have a new credit card account, the Quicken Visa Card from US Bank. I've created an account within Quicken for it, and I've created an account on the US Bank web site, but I can't set up Online Services within Quicken for it. This is what happens:

In the Account list, I scroll to the account and click Edit. I click the Online Services tab, then click Set up Now...

On the next screen, I click on U.S. Bank Internet Banking. The next screen asks for my User ID/User Name and U. S. Bank Internet Banking password. I enter them both and click connect.

It clearly connects satisfactorily, since it next asks "in what city did your mother and father meet," and that's one of the choices of security questions I made on their web site.

I answer the question, and the next screen says "Oops, there is a connection problem," and "Quicken can't add this account because the U. S. Bank internet Banking web site is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a few hours."

Clearly the web site is *not* unavailable, as I pointed out above. Nevertheless I tried again, both immediately and in a few hours. In fact I've tried about a dozen times, both yesterday and today.

Does anyone know what might be wrong, and what I should do?

"U.S. Bank Internet Banking" is a connection via "Express Web Connect", Q's least reliable download method. It's entirely possible, since this is EWC, that the problem is actually on Quicken/Intuit's servers that are an intermediary for EWC.

For $3.95 a month, you can upgrade to "Direct Web Connect", Q's MOST reliable download method. Since I have multiple accounts with USB, and since I got totally frustrated with their flaky implementation of EWC, I consider $3.95/month (for ALL accounts, not per account) to be money well spent.

You'll need to contact USB Support if you want to use this option, as they have to turn it on from their end.

Thanks very much. What you say looks right. I just checked on the Account List and I see that I have several accounts with "Express Web Connect" and several others with "Direct Web Connect." I just realized that I have connect problems with all the "Express Web Connect" accounts and no problems with all the "Direct Web Connect" accounts..

I'm not going to worry about it; I'll just live with it the way it is. I got this credit card just for the spend-$500-in-the-next-three-month one-year-free-Quicken-update offer, and it won't take very long to reach that $500 amount. Once I reach it, I'll stop using the card.
