Intuit forum isn't much help with this. I went to open my 2012 return, in .tax2012 format, with TTax 2012 (installed from CD) and it won't open. I n ever did any of this online--understand there are problems with downloading the 2012 data files, but they never had mine.
I need to make some year end decisions before leaving on a long trip. Intu it has dead Chat and Call links (24/7 ha!). ANy advice will be welcome.

do you have any other ".tax2012" format files - another family member's filing, a backup, or manual copied file ?

I figured this out myself: I had just reinstalled TTax since Windows had b een reinstalled, but I hadn't updated Ttax When I did that, I could open t he file. HOpe this will be useful to someone else.
