Trying to enter bills into calendar

When I tried to open my quicken calendar for the first time, Quicken put all of my bank transactions onto the calendar! I only wanted to keep the bills and paychecks on there, so I was renaming them and as I renamed my paycheck, it asked me if I wanted to show the previous transactions (or something like that) or just future transactions..When I put future transactions, I think it erased some of the paychecks from my account balance! My balance all of a sudden became negative. Do I have to figure out what it deleted and put them back in manually?

Thank you.

I'm not sure I can follow everything you did, so I'm not sure I can say what is the best way to recover in your current file (assuming you need to recover anything).

The best bet might be to restore your backup from just before you began the exercise of correcting the Calendar. (You can also look in the BACKUP folder in your Quicken data folder for automatic backups that Quicken makes ... and appends a single digit to the name of. The fileset with "1" appended to the name is the most recent.)

And for the "future"; try clicking on "Options" in the Calendar menu bar and unselecting "Show recorded transactions in calendar".

[It's also a good idea to include your Quicken year/version (such as: Q2005 Deluxe) when you post a question.]

Apologies if this turns out to create a duplicate post. I originally sent this at noon July 23, 2007; it has been sitting in my "Sent Items" folder since then ... but I do not find it having ever arrived at the newsgroup. So, FWIW, I'm trying to send it again.

Hi, John.

Yes, your original post made it to MY computer - at 11:59 AM (CDT) on

7/23/07, just as you said.

Yours is not the first similar message I've seen in the last couple of days. At least one other was in a private MVP-only newsgroup. In that case, also, the first message had come through, but the sender could not see it.

You don't suppose Harry Potter's latest book and movie releases had anything to do with this, do you? ;^}

Hmmm. I'm having this newsgroup downloaded from three different servers, not one of them had (or has, at this moment) my original post.

In the sense that some people may have been involved with the craze when they should have been tending to business, perhaps. :)

[I also had some 800, duplicate, messages from one of my Quicken newsgroup servers this morning that had a very strange subject line, and no message body (wish now I had saved a copy). The same message appeared once from each of the other two Quicken newsgroup servers.]
