Turbo Tax activation in 2003 (for tax year 2002) caused a huge uproar and after 5 months Intuit backed down and announced they would reverse this policy. They even released generic activation keys which are still asked for periodically on the community support pages.
However, I do note that Tom Allanson who wrote "We are absolutely committed to listening and learning from our customers" didn't remain at Intuit all that long after writing the email.
The Quicken user base needs to stand up to Intuit and tell them that the Intuit ID is not acceptable without better documentation of it's use and purpose. I was rather surprised it did not happen when this started with Q2014 (it must be the dulling of people minds due to the cloud).
