Turbo Tax

Any idea when Turbo Tax 2011 will be released? I'm making some very major changes in my investment portfolio and would like to get started on my tax prep work as soon as possible. I just upgraded to Quicken

2012 and have all the wrinkles ironed out. Now if I could get Turbo Tax 2011 set up and checked out things would be coming along nicely.

I'm looking at possibly upgrading to Quicken 2012 from Quicken 2011. What was some of the "wrinkles" you had to work out? Just trying to plan ahead.

I was just about to ask the same question. (Are we addicted to this program or what?)

There is somewhere a list of the changes. As usual, there is the annyance of having to readjust to smallish changes, but I believe there is better tagging/categorizing and better representation of the holdings of individual securities in an account. Those were the major things that made me get Q12, and I like it, generally.

The only thing I've stumbled on so far is that the "Totals" line at the bottom of my Investments page won't print when I do a print-out of the page. I like to have a paper copy from time to time, just in case something goes wrong with my computer or with the software.

Or what. Quicken and TurboTax are why I bought my first PC and why I continue to own a PC. I really have no other reason for owning a PC and probably wouldn't w/o Intuit products.

My last tax form prepared by a CPA was over $900 (I don't have a simple tax return!) and the savings I realize with TT paid for my first PC (a

386DX-25) and a new upgraded one every 2 to 4 years.

Thanks, TT!

But your posting in this NG is not using an Intuit product - so you DO use it for other stuff!

Not really, this newsgroup is part of RTFM for Quicken and TT.

I purchased a Macbook recently and love it. I tried to use the Q for Mac product and it is THE WORST. So, I log into my PC every day, updated and post to my various accounts, and pick up the MB Air for coffee.

You're quite right on this, but I like to get my tax prep work under way as early as possible, then if any problems crop up I have some time to get them worked out. But, I always check for the latest TT update and make a last minute re-run of my tax returns before filing. These last minute changes usually are not anything that would not be able to simply update my earlier data and get it all squared away for the final filing. Gordon

Where is the best place to get a copy of "Turbotax deluxe federal + e-file + state 2011"? Amazon.com seems to be offering it at the same price as Intuit's Turbotax website - $59.95. Except Amazon has no tax and free shipping! Thanks for any insights as to others.

No doubt, Charlie, self-righteous types such as Uncal will try and guilt you into PAYING tax even though, as you say, Amazon doesn't add it on to its price!!

The office supply stores, Costco, Best Buy, etc. will all have it on sale at varying levels of discount in the coming weeks.
