Two Versions of Quicken

Jan 16, 2006 3 Replies

can I Install Quicken 2006(separate folder,name) on a PC with Quicken 2005.

I have some issues with 2005 freezing my Win98 SE PC when running reports and it (2005) is also SLOW.

I want try 2006, and if there is an improvement, delete the 2005.

I don't believe I have a file issue since I copy the file and use it on a WIN XP Pro laptop without issue. I have even Validated the file (after making a copy of the file saftey reasons.

Thanks,

Have you taken a look at upgrading your operating system to Win XP Home?

Several similar problems that I was having with Quicken 2005 went away after I installed the $80 upgrade (CompUSA pricing) FROM Win98 to XP.

Also, if you're running on broadband (cable or DSL), XP just runs better than 98 when it's up 7x24 ... which 98 was never intended to do.

Yes I have. I ran the xp update advisor and there were too many things to deal with. Sound card was not compatable with XP, DVD software not compatable, Media Card Reader, scanner and a few other programs would have to be removed before doing the upgrade. The 98 PC runs well except for the occasional lock up when doing many reports with Quicken 2005. My solution will be to do basic work on the 98 and do my reports with my XP Pro laptop.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com
