Then they should become computer savvy - period. Either that or stop using them.

I guess you have the right to your opinion, just as I have the right to disagree. If people can get by without AV software then that does say that the threat is not as large as first thought. By and large most viruses spread because moronic users do not listen to advice and open attachments without thinking. Or they stupidly click on links in obvious phishing attempts. By god how the hell do those Nigerian spammers make money anyway? Because many people are stupid. Personally I feel they deserve what they get. If I behaved as stupidly I'd get infected too. Such people really can't be trusted to keep their AV software running nor up to date either. IOW - with them it's pretty much a lost cause no matter how you slice it.

That and it never ceases to amaze me how even supposedly savvy computer professionals often misdiagnose or just blindly fail to do any problem analysis at all deferring instead to an explanation of some sort of computer virus or worm. I've been in the business for like 25 years and I see this sort of stuff all the time. IMHO spreading FUD is as bad if not worse.

No, they don't. You are welcome to your opinion - hopefully you will bestow me that same courtesy (yet somehow I doubt it). I bet you believe in oil changes every 3000 miles too. Like P.T. Barum said - there's a sucker born every minute...

Actually, I do believe in regular oil changes.

I also believe that you have the right to your opinion(s).
