Wachovia bought by CitiBank

This morning, the news claims that CitiBank is buying Wachovia's Banking business. I would think this means checking and savings.

So - at the moment with Crown Checking and a linked credit card line of credit (no balance needed) I get free Quicken Direct Download and Billpay.

What now?

A quick search finds precious few banks which offer direct download and quicken bill pay at all - fee or no fee! I would like a bank that actually has branches near me - I do need a real branch once in a while.

I am sure if you asked, the official answer would be something like "We value all our customers and will continue to provide the highess level of service. No immediate changes are planned".

Hi Marc,

It was changed. Wells Fargo is now buying Wachovia.

Interesting. The night before it was announced that Citigroup would be buying Wachovia, a nat'l banker from Chase told me *they* were buying Wachovia. I wonder who will actually do it?

Margaret
