Wachovia Quicken fees

The new Wachovia now owned by Wells Fargo is reverting to its horrible service when it was First Union. They have just instituted a $5.95 fee for downloading to Quicken if you have a Crown Banking account. Apparently if you are over 55, you can convert to a Crown Banking Classic account and avoid the fee.

YUp. I got slammed with the fee today. I wonlt be 55 for a few months, If they won't let me convert, I'll vote with my feet.

After getting the fee on a Wachovia account, I disabled the Direct Connect for the account, and did a Web Connect update.

The next time I tried to log into Wachovia, it says the password is incorrect?? I had them email the password, and it is the same old password, which no longer works!

Anybody have any suggestions?

Wells Fargo assured me that the freebies attached to Wachovia accounts were not going to be pulled. I'd press them on it.

Call Wachovia Online CS and ask for someone who has Quicken expertise, preferably a supervisor. It worked when I was setting up the bill pay after getting three bozos who hadn't a clue

They lied. They started last month with a $2 fee per month for printing images of checks on paper statements. That put an end to paper statements. Now there is the $5.95 download to Quicken fees. There will also be fees for ordering plain checks. Not sure of what else.

I spent an hour yesterday with a very nice Wachovia rep in a branch going over the stuff. If you are 50 years old, not the 55 I previously stated in my posting, you can qualify for a free Crown Banking Classic Account, and bypass the fees. Do this person, otherwise you end up with customer support coming out of the Phillipines.

Called Wachovia today about changing to Crown Classic. Spoke to a nice guy who made the switch, refunded the $5.95 fee and ordered me some free checks. (I'm still going through my supply from First Union.

No msss. No fuss.

If you are over 50, you can get the same deal with a smaller minimu balance requirement to avoid fees. There have been some rough spots in the move to Wells Fargo, especially if you bank where all the Wachovias are converted.
