Refund Delay?

Oct 30, 2013 1 Replies

I made a mistake on my 1040, and the IRS correctly fixed it. In a letter dated August 26 I received notice of the corrected refund.

Since then nothing. It has not appeared in my bank account. "Where is my Refund" on the IRS site gives nothing.

Did the shutdown affect this? Or is there some other problem?

Yes, the IRS collection function was deemed essential and remained in operation, but the IRS refund function was deemed non-essential and shut down for nearly three weeks.

I'd wait a couple of weeks more, and then write the IRS at the address shown in the Notice.
