0870 number decoding

I spotted the following site which gives the actual numbers behind non geographic numbers and allows you to add others. It's been mentioned on other groups, but never here -

Well some of the geographic numbers will work the same as non-geographic

0870 (usually for a call centre), others will often take you through to head office where you'll be promptly told to re-dial the advertised number.

Ironic the site carries adverts for companies who provide 0870 etc. numbers to businesses contradicting the whole idea of what the site is supposed to achieve!

Which ones are they ?

Yes, someone else said that, I think it's quite amusing that the people signing up for non geographic numbers are funding the site.

It's very nearly *always* quite a lot cheaper to call a geographic number rather than an 0870 number. This is even more true now that even people suing BT are, by default, on 'Option 1'.

Suing BT on what grounds? It's down to an individual company to choose what number to have be it geographic or one of the whole range of non- geographic. It's down to individual phone service providers to provide their customers with correct tariff information.

I'm guessing thats a typo for 'using'..

It was a typo! It should have said 'using'. :-)
