I've sent a sum of money from my halifax bank account to a First Direct bank account? I sent the payment on Friday morning.

If you used BACS then Tuesday, probably, if you are lucky. If not, Wednesday almost for sure.
If sent using the BACS system, it should show in your First Direct account on the 3rd working day, so should show tomorrow. HTH Vic
It all depends how you sent the payment. BACS is obviously quicker than 2nd class post.
Within some large organisations the term "sent the payment" means nothing more than signing an authorisation and passing it to the accounts department.
