Barclays Bank Statements

Since I bank on-line I obviously have not missed them but whereas I used to receive a current account bank statement from Barclays every month, I have not received one since early this year.

Have I missed something? Has Barclays changed their policy? When I set the account up many years ago I requested a statement each month.

And do you want to hear the most annoying thing. You can't order one on-line. Not even a mention.

I also bank on-line, but I still receive a current account bank statement from Barclays every month as always. I suggest you call and ask them where yours have got to.

That's the way ID theft can start - the fraudster gets your statements redirected to another address & gets your financial info sent to him instead....

I need to get this sorted asap.

I am beginning to wonder if my refusal to accept the marketing crap they have previously sent by writing on "not at this address" and returning has had an effect.

Yes, that would cause it - if a bank receives info that someone is not at an address they will immediately stop sending statementst etc.

If you do not want marketing material to be despatched to you I suggest you a) tell your bank that, and b) be careful what boxes you tick/untick in the future!

As other posters have pointed out, you may have shot yourself in the foot with the "not at this address".

Best way forward:

1) Write to Barclays requesting that they cease processing your personal details for the purposes of direct marketing (Data Protection Act). If they continue to send you junk-mail after a certain period after you have written, they may be in breach of the DP Act. Generally, Barclays (I am a customer as well and have asked them to stop sending junk mail) are pretty good at taking notice (don't forget to include Barclaycard if you are also a customer). 2) Register with the Mail Preference Service (MPS) to reduce/stop junk mail

Yes, it's got your account flagged for having a dodgy address. It happened to me - I had to go into a bank with proof of ID to get it reset. I only noticed when my replacement cheque book didn't turn up. I think it's really a way for them to punish you for not being obedient, however.
