Clearing Credit History by Changing Address

Would it be possible to start afresh with a new credit history by listing as a previous address rented accommodation where you were on the electoral roll and then listing a current address as your new rented accommodation and making sure you are on the roll?

Is the only way Credit Agencies know who you are through tracing of address?

They look at previous addresses, and when you tell banks etc that you have moved, this gets recorded on your record at both addresses.

Without a hint of irony, snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com (notella) astounded uk.finance on

23 Sep 2004 by announcing:

If you currently have a bank/loan/card/store account then as soon as you change your address with them, they'll notifiy Equifax/Experian. If you open a new account and list a previous address, that will also be notified.

There are ways of 'starting afresh' but they're highly suspect at best, and illegal at worst.
