Are these visits normal? i have been claiming benefits for about 3 months now, while out of work- just got letter saying they want to check my claim and that all details held are correct...
I may just be paranoid, but they already know i 'exist', as i sign-on each fortnight, and nothing has changed. as soon as i find a job, i'm off the register!
No, they know that somehow a form at the job center gets signed every week, that doesn't mean you exist - it could be some fraud in that office.

thanks- thought i was on some hit list! better start tidying up.. all these party gals leave a right mess!
It's normal practice these days. They not only want to go thru' your personal finances, just to double check that you're still eligable to claim the benefit, but its also a check that you do actually live there and the home looks like somebody lives there. There are so many frauds going on with people making multiple claims, or not declaring their wealth (either fraudently or by simply forgetting to), etc, the Government introduced these measures.
Probably checking you're not a giro drop.
Although from what I've seen in the past they ignore them.
Or the place could have been sub-let at market prices.
