Index linked savings certificates, next issue?

Is there any way to find out when the government will release a new issue of index-linked savings certificates? The NSandI website is silent on the question.

Issues 15 (3 year) and 42 (5 year) have been the 'current' issue for ages it seems.

These certificates are not subject to UK tax (income or CGT) but you can only by 15,000 of each issue.

thanks,

Only watch 5-year IL certs. For 5-year IL certs, current issue of

5-year ILs is 42nd which went on sale on 25-Apr-2007 so have currently been on sale for 10 months. The previous issue (41st) were on sale for 11 months. Before that, the lifespan was about 3 months each. IIRC, you can't get advance notice of changes. I do recall getting an e-mail from NS&I (after signing up on their website for updates) with notification of changes in interest rates, but I haven't seen one recently (maybe it got caught in a spam filter somewhere)

Yes that's interesting, I remember them as coming out every few months but these days (i.e. last couple of years) as you say it has been much less frequently. Maybe this says something about the givernments internal view on the likely course of inflation. They prefer to issue fixed rate certificates rather than index linked ones. If they thought inflation was going to fall it would be the reverse.

We just have to keep checking the website I suppose.
